This class will introduce eco-printing with seaweed alongside select land-based plants. Participants work with a variety of seaweed species collected along Rhode Island’s coastline and harvest leaves and flowers from the art center’s garden to develop a unique visual language on cloth. We will then experiment with tie-resist and block resist techniques using dye baths made from our collected and processed plants, building depth and narrative within each piece, resulting in richly detailed textile panels that can be used as an accessory or home décor.
A $45 supply fee payable to Sasha at the first class will cover the cost of all materials for this workshop.
