Discover how a book’s binding and spine shape can transform the way it’s seen, handled, and read. In this hands-on workshop, we’ll experiment with structure as meaning—creating distinctive, sculptural spines from decorative and handmade papers, then binding our pages using the simple pamphlet stitch. You’ll learn both 3-hole and 5-hole variations with waxed linen thread, making the process intuitive and satisfying, even for beginners. Along the way, you’ll explore multiple ways to embellish and personalize your book. You’ll leave not only with finished pieces, but with clear, repeatable techniques you can return to again and again.
Materials fee: $25. This includes all papers, threads and use of essential tools (cutting mats, rulers, thread, needles, scissors, X-actos, awls) and embellishments.
