No Studio: A Decade As A Nomadic Painter
Thursday, May 28
6 - 7pm
Free, or suggested $10 donation
Join us for an enthralling presentation about an artist's life as a nomad. Painter Chris Long will be discussing the events that led him from being a sculptor and teacher to pursuing a life as a nomad, traveling across the country in an RV, and what brought him back to Rhode Island again. Learn about his time in the New Orleans art scene, Colorado art fairs, and getting trapped while traveling west when the pandemic struck. Find out more about his decision to start selling his art online through social media and how he has earned his living that way. This will be an action packed discussion with plenty of visuals to guide you along on the journey.
About the Speaker: Born in 1978 in Connecticut, Chris Long earned a degree in sculpture from the Lyme Academy of Fine Art in 2000. After exhibiting his figurative sculpture nationally, teaching, and operating a bronze foundry, he took to the road in an RV with his family in 2008. Long began teaching himself to paint in New Orleans in early 2011. He initially focused on still life and portraiture and then switched entirely to painting oil landscapes en plein air and from his travel photo references. He now lives part-time in New England and travels coast-to-coast in a motor coach with his family for the remainder of the year. Long paints 2-4 originals a day. Learn more on Instagram.
