Immerse yourself in the art of hand papermaking in this lively, hands-on introduction. Using the classic Western-style dip method, you’ll form beautiful sheets of paper while experimenting with embedding, layering, and shaping this endlessly versatile medium. Along the way, you’ll explore both contemporary and traditional approaches, including how fibers can be prepared at home. We’ll dive into hand manipulation and drying techniques that reveal the distinctive character of different fibers—and you’ll leave with a collection of handmade papers showcasing a range of materials.
Materials fee: $20
This includes various plant pulps, additives, insertions, and the use of essential tools (mould, deckle, felts, and pelons, aprons) necessary for forming and pressing paper, along with all materials needed for a fully immersive creative experience.
