Students are encouraged to tap into their imagination and creativity in this 4-week hands on workshop. Inspired by the openness to play that is most often experienced in childhood, students are encouraged to explore and experiment, while learning (or revisiting!) the foundational basics of working with clay. Students will be guided through the process of creating finished hand built ceramic wares from beginning to end. They will learn about the stages of wet and dry clay, the processes of bisque and glaze firing, as well as best studio practices along the way. Various methods of hand building will be demonstrated, allowing students to make multiple functional and/or sculptural pieces by the end of the session. Simple techniques in surface decorating and glazing will be covered, as students explore bringing their own unique visions to life. Perfect for absolute beginners, as well as seasoned potters who want to try making with a new approach, this workshop offers an opportunity to have fun and play while making personalized finished work from clay.
One half bag of clay is included ($25 value includes glazes and firings). This workshop does not include time to work in the studio outside of class.
