This class will explore the 4 pillars of handbuilding: pinch, slab, coil and solidbuilt/hollowing out (aka sculptural) In addition both slump and press molds will be used. Students will explore a variety of forms and surface treatment such as : vases, bottles, mugs, saucers, bowls among other forms. Stamps, slips, underglazes and carving will be covered. This class will provide the beginner with the basics and a solid review for those already familiar with handbuilding.
One 25 lb. bag of clay is included ($50 value includes glazes and firings) as well as time to work in the studio outside of class.
