This workshop dives into a deep exploration of the foundations of abstraction but also welcomes less experienced newcomers who are curious. You’ll explore a variety of acrylic painting techniques to develop your own unique style of abstraction. Foundations of color theory, composition, design, surface treatments and materials will be highlighted in each session, including presentations of distinguished abstract artists, past and present.
Utilizing exercises of finding inspiration through memory, visual references and expressionism, we’ll move from “what is seen” to “what is felt,” gradually shifting away from realism toward a more contemporary methodology. Using line, shape, color, value, and texture, you’ll reinterpret landscapes and compositions in your own unique way.
This course focuses on experimentation, play, curiosity and self-discovery. It’s a journey of finding the narrative in your work and a path of self-realization. The real outcome is learning who we become in the process of finding our own voice.
You’ll receive feedback throughout, and the small class size ensures plenty of individual attention to help you grow as an artist. This workshop nurtures both creativity and spirit. Traditional and abstract artists of all levels are welcome.
