Perspective is a technique used to represent reality. Its purpose is to add depth and volume to a flat plane.
Perspective is not intuitive and it is not real, but it can be taught and can be used to make your work more accurate and believable. Understanding the rules of perspective allows one to break them and create other kinds of reality in art.
It took around 400 years for artists to perfect the use of perspective in art from the first attempts by Persian and Arab philosophers during the 1000’s to the pinnacle of perspective drawing after 1400 during the Renaissance.
In a short four weeks we will cover the development of perspective, vocabulary of perspective, one point and two point perspective, perspective of circles and visual perspective.
