There is plenty to consider when entering your art to a juried show. Submit to shows that fit your work. If you are not a photographer, consider hiring a professional photographer to photograph your work. Follow the application instructions exactly and carefully choose your best work. That is just the beginning of what you should be thinking about.

Approaching a gallery can be a daunting endeavor. Gallery representation is a dream most artists have. Another is having your work published. So how does one go about getting your work in front of a gallery owner? Think of it as applying for a regular job. Research the galleries you are interested in. Find out everything you can. Stay visible and be open to showing your work. Show your work as often as you can, in the best places you can. You need to get both yourself and your work into the public arena. Learn how to use social media outlets. You also need to meet as many people in the arts as possible. Of course, your work needs to be consistently good. It isn’t an impossible task, but it does require a lot of work. So does everything else that is worthwhile.

Students are encouraged to bring in 1 or 2 digital files to critique the quality of your submissions.
