Please join us for this 4 week workshop that will focus on calming the mind and body through mindfulness and creativity. No art experience is required! Art is a natural way to practice mindfulness as the colors, textures, and process of creating helps to focus on the present moment. Making art is shown to significantly reduce stress-related hormones in your body. We will explore multiple art materials and how to use them in ways that regulate the nervous system, calm the mind, and reduce stress.
Class will open with a mindfulness/breathing activity and guidance to engaging with art materials in a mindful way. This will be process oriented art-making, less emphasis on the product or end result. Facilitator will be there to answer questions and assist participants with art making if requested. Materials will be provided, but you are welcome to bring in your own journal if you would like.
Please note that while art can be used therapeutically, this class is not a substitute for therapy. If you are experiencing symptoms that bring you distress please reach out to support. Some local supports are:
