In this workshop you will be able to realize your dream of making a 3 dimensional artwork using a strong, flexible, light and totally usable medium: paper! When I say paper, I really mean plant fibers, in this case cotton and abaca (from the banana plant family). We will explore the history of papermaking, the artistic applications of the medium and learn the basics of sheet forming. We will build our armatures that will support the handmade paper. In Class 2 we will get into the sheet forming process to apply to our sculpture. Class 3 will be a time to add the finishing touches, such as paint and decorative materials to enhance and complete our artwork. All materials are provided.
